Rs.1000 Crores To Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced a financial aid of Rs.1000 Crores to Uttarakhand Government.

After the air survey of the flood hit areas made by Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi yesterday, the Central Government has taken a decision to helf the State financially to come back to the normal life slowly.  The financial aid of Rs.1000 was announced to the State out of which Rs.145 crores will be released immediately.   An ex-gratia of Rs.2.00 lakhs is announced for the family of the deceased.

The pilgrimage of the Char Dham is closed for one year.  Uttarkhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna calls the calamity as tsunami.  70000 people are still missing and many areas of the affected areas are not yet reached by the rescue teams.  

The Government of India cancelled Mana Sarovar Tourism as the flood washed off the main roads leading to Tawaghat and Almora at many places.  

Pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh are still stranded at many places and evacuation teams are working to rescue them and additional buses and trains are put in to operation from Dehradun to bring them back from there after the evacuation teams leave them at Dehradun.
