Choppers Evacuating and Dropping Food and Water Packets

The Uttarakhand Government is fully engaged in the evacuation of stranded pilgrims and also dropping food and water packets to the pilgrims still stranded.  

Although 12 helicopters were pressed in to service, authorities are afraid that the rescue operations will be difficult to carry due to heavy rains still going on in the State.

The AP Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said today in the Assembly that the situation is monitored continuously and the Government is in touch with the Uttarkhand Government. He also said that a team of doctors is sent from Delhi to Dehradun to take care of the evacuated pilgrims who will be left there by the rescue teams.  

AP Bhavan at Delhi is asked to provide number of buses to bring the pilgrims from Dehradun to Delhi.  Special trains are arranged to carry the pilgrims from Dehradun-Delhi- Andhra Pradesh.  Control rooms at Dehradun and AP Bhavan at Delhi are opened for the sake of assistance to the pilgrims.
