The charge levied was that he was receiving Rs. 1.6 lakh bribe from a company which supplies medical devises to the Cardiac department. Based on a complaint made by a supplier, Atmacharan Reddy, former MP of Nizamabad.
According to sources, Mr Reddy's company manufactures stents and pace makers and supplies the same to NIMS. However since a month, the materials were rejected by the head of the department.
When a meeting transpired between the duo, the surgeon had demanded Rs 10,000 per piece supplied which amounted to Rs 1.60 lakhs, as he had used 16 stents in the last quarter.
On the other hand the accused Doctor expressed that the duo were associated since sometime and the politician needed some hand loan (Rs 1.60 lakhs), which he had given. To evade this, Mr Reddy had adopted this strategy. (Wishesh AarKay)
