Srisailam God-man arrested in 'hate speech row'

Police arrested a God-man in Srisailam for his 'hate' speech against the incarcerated Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi. The Kurnool Police had arrested Swamy Kamalananda Bharathi for his comments on the Chandrayangutta MLA.

The Swamy was immediately brought to Hyderabad and produced before a Magistrate as the Courts were on leave since Monday on festive account. He had been remanded to for fourteen days and is right now lodged in the Cherlapalli central prison.

Earlier the MIM MLA was arrested by the Nirmal Police for his 'hate' speech at 'Jalsa' which was uploaded on the Youtube and had become viral. The speech attracted national ire and even noted social activist Shabnam Hashmi filed a complaint in Delhiā€™s Parliament Street Police Station on the speech. Several rights activists, including Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer and Ram Puniyani condemned the MIM leader, on the same issue.

It may be noted that this morning two persons were arrested from Adilabad for posting 'hate' comments on the Facebook. Critics felt that the only delay done was in arresting the MIM leaders, but post that things have been moving at a rapid pace. (Wishesh AarKay)
