Telangana Territorial Administration on the anvil?

The January 28, announcement by the Congress led UPA government on the Telangana issue seems to have raked in wide response across the state. While the Seemandhra leaders are against the decision, the Telangana leaders are pinning their hopes on the issue. Speculations are running high as to what the high command would deliver on the scheduled date.

One such speculation is running strong supported by some signals from Delhi among the political circles. The proposal could be formation of  Telangana Territorial Administration similar to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.

This would be the governing authority of the ten districts of the region. The TTA would have a Chief Executive and several executive counselors who would be elected members. Any party could field its candidates and win the majority to gain the CEO powers.

TTA would look into the governance of the region and would be answerable only to the centre, similar to any state. On the other hand, about the status of the capital is yet to be decided, but critics feel that the state capital would be made an union territory similar to Delhi.

Now with these considerations, how would it benefit the ruling party? On the Telangana side power is sure to flow in one direction, but in Seemandhra, there is sure to be political uncertainty with three parties in the race. (Wishesh AarKay)
