Telugu Desam Party has called for a bandh in Guntur district today as a mark of protest for allegedly arresting TDP leaders including former minister Kodela Siva Prasad. It may be noted that Kodela was arrested yesterday along with 14 other leaders and were produced before the court. The court has reportedly remanded them to 14 days of judicial custody. Expressing their anguish over the arrest, the TDP cadre in the district was asking the street vendors for rolling their shutters down.
Later, the activists have also staged a protest and road blockade on Cheeraala highway in Guntur. It may be recalled that Kodela and others staged protest on Sunday against the alleged irregularities in the elections to the cooperative bodies. When the leaders tried to lay siege to the residence of the respective minister, the police plunged into the action and busted them. Later, the police even imposed CrPC section 144.
