Sec 144 lifted in old city

Hyderabad police has lifted CrPC Section 144 in the old city. The police removed the barricades and removed the traffic restrictions, which were in place after disturbances over Charminar temple row. The situation is therefore limping back to normalcy.  The situation in the old city is being supervised by traffic commissioner of police, C V Anand and DCP Akun Sabarwal. As of now, the situation at the old city was normal.  The security was, however, not withdrawn from the old city. It may be noted that Hyderabad police commissioner said Asadduddin Owaisi, MIM president and Hyderabad MP, promised the police that he would strive and maintain peace and restrain the city.

It may be recalled that Bhagya Lakshmi temple adjacent to Charminar created tense atmosphere in old city of Hyderabad and MIM reportedly objected the alleged expansion of the temple expressing his concern for heritage structure Charminar. The matter is now prejudice. Upset over the temple row, MIM eventually withdrew its support from UPA and also to Congress in the state. The police, in order, to ensure no untoward situation takes place, imposed Section 144.

Asadduddin Owaisi took on the same today in the press meet and alleged that many shops in the bustling streets of old city were still close and an undeclared curfew was in place. The police now lifted Section 144.
