Commemorating Swami Vivekananda's speech at Parliament of the World's Religions, celebrations touched peak at Rama Krishna Mutt (RK Mutt) in Hyderabad today. It was on the same day in 1893 that Swami Vivekananda addressed the parliament of religions in Chicago. When Swami started his speech with “My dear sisters and brothers of America...” lakhs of people who gathered there gave a standing ovation to Swami Vivekananda.
Swami Vivekananda's statue was kept on a chariot, which was started by the union minister Purandareshwari. This chariot would be pulled across the state to mark the 150th birth anniversary year (2013-2014) of Swami Vivekananda. The dignitaries who marked their attendance at RK Mutt today have told that Swami Vivekananda's ideologies always inspired today's youth and stressed youth to take Swami as the role model.
