Congress MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy has alleged that all political parties in the state got benefits from the Polvaram project. He has alleged that Congress MP s became the contractors of the project. The current design of Polavaram project would not be beneficial, he opined. Commenting on the governments, he has said that the state and centre were dilly-dallying on the issue. He even advised the government for constructing 11 barrages till Polavaram. He has also demanded the government to set up a CBI inquiry on the principal secretary Adithyanathan Das for allegedly misleading the government.
Meanwhile, Odisha government is opposed to the controversial Polavaram irrigation project. It may be noted that Biju Janata Dal took out a huge rally against the construction of this project. this Monday wherein ministers too took part. Odisha minister Rabi Narayana Nanda has taken on the Andhra Pradesh government and said the decision to construct Polavaram would constitute contempt of court since the matter was pending in the Supreme Court.
In the wake of opposition from the own party and from the ruling party of the neighboring state, the political observers said the Centre might look into the issue swiftly.
