Congress senior leader Chittaranjan Das-who hails from the same place (Kalwakurthy) of Jaipal Reddy-has lashed out at the union petrol minister Jaipal Reddy over gas allotment to Maharashtra. He has said that Jaipal Reddy was a mere selfish person. Chittaranjan Das has even stressed that Jaipal Reddy didn't develop his constituency despite being a key leader in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).

It has to be mentioned here that Chittaranjan Das, who defeated NTR in early 80s in Kalwakurthy constituency, apparently seen Jaipal Reddy closely as they both belonged to same village in Mahabunagar district.

Chittaranjan Das said it was Jaipal Reddy who dragged Rosaiah from the chief minister's throne and now wants to do the same with Kiran Kumar Reddy. He alleged that Jaipal Reddy was resorted to anti-party activists and demanded that he be removed from the union cabinet.
