The former Telecom Minister A Raja has been permitted by the Court to visit his home state, Tamil Nadu. As per reports today at Delhi the former minister arrested by the CBI in regards to the 2G case, shall be arriving at Chennai this Friday. The DMK man from Nilgiris will be in the state till 22nd of this month say sources.
The DMK leader was known to be close to the party patriarch Dr Kalaignar. Mr Raja should have felt really bad to miss the veteran’s birthday celebrations on Sunday in Chennai. Pompous and jubilance prevailed in the DMK cadre on Sunday while celebrating Dr Kalaignar’s 89th birthday in Chennai. However the former Telecom Minister sent a message to the veteran, "I am unable to personally greet you on your 89th birthday, but my thoughts would be there to wish you."
It may be noted that the DMK leader is being tried in a Delhi court for allegedly masterminding the telecom or 2G-scam in 2008. He is accused of breach of trust by a public servant that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Mr Raja allegedly sold telecom licences at below-market rates to companies he favored. He gave them valuable spectrum or 2G airwaves for free. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
