The court has found four accused-in hatching a plot for eliminating TDP leader late Paritala Ravi by planting a suitcase bomb in 2001- as guilty of offence. They include Mangali Krishna, Ramachandra Reddy, Madhusudhan Reddy and Sudheer Reddy. While holding them guilty, the Additional Sessions Court of Anantapur district on Wednesday quashed the case against another six persons who were also accused in the case.
The court is yet to pronounce the quantum of punishment.
It may be recalled that the police filed cases against 14 persons in connection with the case. While four persons died when the proceedings were underway, court held four responsible and had set free six accused.
TDP leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu has alleged that Mangali Krishna was the close aide of YSR Congress party president and Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. Mangali Krishna was behind the murders that were done by late YSR and his son Jaganmohan Reddy, he added. He even cited Jagan’s dharna in front of a police station for the release of Mangali Krishna.
Since Mangali Krishna is now a convict and also reportedly a loyal follower of Jagan, YSR Congress party is likely to lose a couple of seats in the by-polls that are round the corner. (Phani)
