Five special police teams are on the trail to catch the tainted realtor GS Gupta and his family members who are at large after the real estate giant DLF lodged a cheating complaint against them for duping them to the tune of Rs.300 Cr.
Police teams have gone to Kolkata, Delhi and UP to nab him as most of his relatives are situated in those places. His son-in-law is a resident of Kolkata city.
Police came to know he left the city two weeks ago and first went to Kolkata but left Kolkata too after learning the police are on his trail. The special teams now plan to question the relatives.
Gupta reportedly called one of his Hyderabad friends from UP two days ago and police suspect he might try to escape to Nepal from where he can find more escape routes. Or he might try to hide in Nepal.
Nepal is the only safe haven right now for him as he can’t fly to any other country with the officials issuing LOOK Out Notices for him at all major airports.
Tourism department to attach properties of Guptas
Tourism department officials, who have taken back the old Gandhi Medical College land at Basheerbagh in Hyderabad after canceling the lease agreements with the Guptas-owned GSG Constructions, said the Guptas owed them a balance of Rs.9.5 Cr towards lease rentals and the same would be collected by attaching their properties under Revenue Recovery Act. The government has deployed its own guards at the site.
Officials have also come to know that the Guptas have committed several illegalities in the past with regard to excise tax evasion and some other frauds. Several cases are pending against him. (J)
