9 die as junior doctors stop emergency care

With the stand off between Government and the striking junior doctors continuing with no solution in sight, the doctors stopped attending to emergency patients resulting in the death of 9 patients in various government hospitals across the state.

Reports said four patients needing emergency treatment died at Gandhi Hospital, three persons at Kurnool Government Hospital and two at Visakhapatnam Government hospital since last night as junior doctors stopped their emergency services.

Government says it has made alternative arrangements to serve the patients in the backdrop of the strike but it has no positive affect on the suffering patients.

The government remained adamant on its stand saying there is no question of agreeing to the demand of striking doctors for enhancing their monthly stipend leading to the failure of talks between the doctors and the government.

Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy has entrusted the medical education portfolio to the new incumbent Mr Kondru Murali who also said the government would not compromise on its stand. (JUBS)
