Anti Corruption Bureau states that so far 19 persons were arrested in 12 districts of AP. 5 CIs, 1 SI and 1 Head Constable were among them. Many Officers of central excise were reported to be on leave and thus unavailable.
ACB raids on liquor syndicates revealed many things that were only suspicions so far. Liquor had been selling at higher rates than that of MRP for so many years. Liquor dealers formed syndicates to fix a convenient higher price of their own. They had been squeezing more money than they are authorized which they plead for meeting the highest bid amounts in the liquor auctions held by the Government. They had been paying bribe to various persons in the excise and their records not only corroborated it but also revealed the name of elected representatives of the people in high places. Every body involved in not only in supervising cadre but also law makers broke the law as per the revelation so far in the records of the syndicate offices.
It is also in the air that the probe may further be stopped due to the precarious position it is subjecting the state government as the links with the syndicates are pulling so much of connections in high places.
State Excise Minister Mopidevi who was also blamed of corruption says that the truth will come out soon. He also said that the complaint against him should not been given a political color. He says that it is wrong to say that he was made scapegoat by CM. (SJ)
