Jagan to hunger protest for Weavers

The young leader plans to protest for two days in Rajahmundry for the early solution of weavers’ problems. The YSR Congress leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy announced that he shall sit on hunger strike at Rajahmundry from the 12th of this month for 48 hours. The protest is to highlight the problems faced by the weaver community, which has been neglected by the rulers.  The Kadapa MP announced his decision at Akhila Bharatha Devanga Maha Sabha on Friday night at Rajahmundry.

In the early part of the day, Jagan demanded the lifting of the lockout of Regency Ceramics and threatened to take up a state-wide stir if the firm failed to do so in the interests of workers. Maintaining that nearly 70 per cent of the people working in Regency Ceramics were from Andhra Pradesh, he found fault with the AP government for failing to safeguard the interests of the workers. He demanded that the state government bring pressure on the Puducherry government to open Regency Ceramics. He also requested the state government to provide adequate security to the workers. He also consoled the family of workers’ union leader M. Murali Mohan, who was killed during the labor unrest in Yanam at T. Kothapalli village. He also extended financial help to the family members of union leader Murali Mohan. The YSR Cong Chief gave an assurance to Mohan’s wife Durga that he will bear the educational expenditure of their four children.

It may be noted the YSR Cong Chief is facing various allegations about the roll out of public assets while his father was the CM. The allegations pertain to issue of mining licenses, special economic zones, ports, real estate permissions to unscrupulous investors who pumped in money into his companies, in return for the favors. CBI is also making its investigations strongly in this case.
