Refusing to give any direction to the CBI to investigate the role of Home minister P. Chidambaram in the 2G scam, the Supreme Court today left it to the trial court to decide on the issue.
While disposing the petitions filed by Janata Party president Subramanyam Swamy, the division bench comprising justices G S Singhvi and A K Ganguly said the trial court would decide the issue in the next two weeks. “It will be no way influenced by our decision,” said the bench.
Swamy filed the petitions seeking direction to the CBI to investigate the alleged role of Home Minister P. Chidambaram into the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Special CBI Judge O P Saini, who heard a similar petition filed by Swamy separately, has already reserved his order for February 4. (JUBS)
