Ousted Minister Mr Shankar Rao today caused an embarrassment to the chief minister Kirankumar reddy and also to the Congress party leadership by disclosing that Kiran questioned him on his fight against the corruption of the YSR Congress party president Mr YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
“CM called me and asked me why I was running after Jagan,” revealed Shankar Rao participating in a TV channel interview shortly after his dismissal from the Cabinet. “Kirankumar doesn’t like my fighting against a corrupt Jagan,” he fumed.
Observing he would have resigned himself if the high command had asked him to quit, Shankar Rao said he would continue his fight against corruption. “No one has asked me to quit. Instead of asking me to resign, they had kicked me out of the Cabinet but I would not be cowed down by such threats,” he said.
Claiming himself to be a clean and corruption-free politician, Shankar Rao said he only tried to ensure that the party and the government didn’t get bad name. “Irrespective of the position I enjoy, I will continue my fight against corruption like a normal citizen,” he said.
Shankar Rao also said he was trying to have an appointment with the Congress party president Sonia Gandhi. “The state congress leaders must have misled the high command about me,” he averred. (JUBS)
