The regional Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh is on a membership drive. The drive commences from Wednesday. The exercise is a regular one, and conducted every two years. In this drive each member has to enroll to reassure membership in the party. Even the TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu has to enroll in the process. The entire party members have to re-enroll their membership and update their status.
The TDP on Tuesday launched its first-of-its-kind exercise by a political party in the country, online membership drive to enroll students, youth and non-resident Indians into its fold. The campaign was launched formerly at the party headquarters NTR Bhavan, in Hyderabad. Speaking to journalists on the occasion, Mr. Naidu said, `This is unique and we can enroll a member in just three minutes. The facility is being launched on the demand of many of our supporters who are abroad.'
TDP’s IT wing chief T Srinivasa Rao said, `the aim of the initiative is to take the TDP closer to the youth and the netizens.’ The online membership drive was conceived after numerous requests were made on the party's Facebook page www.facebook.com/TDPofficial that was launched recently. (AarKay)
