Chiru opposes bauxite mining, warns of tribal culture destruction

Congress leader and Tirupati MLA Mr Chiranjeevi today strongly opposed the idea of bauxite mining in the Visakha agency area and appealed to the government to have a rethinking on the isuse.
Addressing the officials and MLAs on the last day of their 3-day training programme at Araku Valley today, the mega star said that bauxite mining would result in the destruction of environs and eat away the age old culture of the tribals.
“There is an emergent need to protect their tradition and culture,” he said, serving a warning to the Government that bauxite mining would totally destroy their culture. “Besides, the tribals would also be displaced,” he said.
“Where will they go leaving their nature and environs?” he asked, appealing to the Government to have a rethinking on the proposals of bauxite mining. (JUBS)
