Naidu castigates Kiran for errant liquor policy

TDP chief Mr Chandrababu Naidu today came down heavily on the chief minister Kirankumar reddy for the Government’s errant liquor policy and held congress president Sonia Gandhi responsible for the liquor syndicates in the state.

Continuing his second day tour in his Kuppam constituency of Chittor district, Mr Naidu found fault with the chief minister for giving licenses to the transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana to own 31 liquor shops.

“How can he be allowed to own 31 liquor shops in violation of rules? You are responsible for this lapse and answerable to the people,” he told the chief minister in a media conference.

Recently, Botsa said that he and his family members owned 27 per cent share in 31 liquor shops but had no connection with liquor mafia. Naidu was referring to this statement.

Naidu charged the chief minister with accepting bribes for permitting liquor manufacturing at the will and pleasure of liquor contractors. “Distillery permits are being given at free will violating all the rules,” said Chandrababu Naidu.

Saying that the government is not in a position to implement the High Court orders for ensuring the sales of liquor at the prescribed MRP, Naidu said the congress government has no right to continue in office even for a moment.

“Since ministers and MLAs are linked to the liquor mafia which has been playing with the lives of people in the state, congress president Sonia Gandhi should give an explanation on the issue,” demanded the former chief minister. (JUBS)
