23 houses were gutted in a fire accident at Akiveedu in West Godavari district this morning. The loss of property was estimated at Rs. 40 lakh.

Several fire engines were involved in extinguishing the fire and it took more than three hours for the firemen to bring the blaze under control.

The reasons for the fire accident are not yet known. Police said they have registered a case and are investigating.  (JUBS)
