The AP Sate Builders’ Association today threatened to stop all government works from Jan 10 if the builders are not paid as per the newly agreed rates for the left over works of Jalayagnam.
Association President Mr Mohan Reddy told a media conference in Hyderabad that as per the agreement, the Government must pay as per the new rates for all works that crossed the limitation of 24 to 30 months.
“The government has entrusted the phase one and phase two contracts to the contractors through EPC tenders asking them to complete the works in 2 years,” he said, adding, that government took nearly two years to entrust the works to them due to agitations on protecting forest lands and land acquisition. “We can’t be found fault for this,” he said.
Observing that construction of projects have imposed a burden on contractors in this backdrop, Mohan Reddy said they have already reminded the government several times on the issue but there was no response from it.
“As a final resort, we are asking the government to make payments as per the new rates before Jan 10 or else we will stop working on all pending works from that date,” he warned. (JUBS)
