Textiles minister Sankara Rao, who was attacked by the alleged supporters of the home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy near LB Nagar in Hyderabad this morning, was admitted to Care Hospital due to high BP.
He was first taken to the NIMS hospital at Panjagutta in an Ambulance but then he went to the Care hospital and admitted himself after having first-aid treatment at the NIMS.
After the attack in the morning hours, the minister came back to his chambers in the secretariat and addressed a media conference alleging that supporters of Sabitha attacked him and she must be dismissed from the cabinet.
The maverick minister said he also can’t continue in the cabinet. “I can’t continue in this Government and I request the CM to remove me from the cabinet,” he said blaming the home minister for the attack. “Police remained silent spectators during the attack,” he said.
When he finished his brief media conference and went to his chambers, doctors examined him and found he had a bout of high BP. He was then immediately rushed to the NIMS.
Reports said the attack took place when he went to NTR Nagar near LB Nagar on the Vijayawada high way to announce his support to one Mr Jahangir who filed a court case against the alleged misdeeds of home minister’s son. (JUBS)
