Minister Sankara rao attacked by HM’s supporters

The alleged supporters of home minister Sabitha Indra Reddy today attacked the maverick textiles minister Sankara rao at NTR Nagar near LB Nagar of Hyderabad.

The attack took place when the minister went to extend support to one Mr Jahangir who filed a court case against the son of the home minister. Learning that Sankara Rao was visiting the area, the supporters of the home minister collected well in advance and displayed banners describing the minster as a land grabber.

As soon as the minister arrived there, the activists raised slogans and hurled stones, eggs and tomatoes on his convoy. While the minister escaped unhurt, his car was partially damaged in the attack.

The alleged supporters of the home minister resorted to a sit-in on the road demanding the police that Minister Sankara Rao should be handed over to them. Police asked the unruly mob to leave the area but when persuasion failed, they lathi charged them to make way for the minister.

Police and the locals then took the minister to a building nearby and later sent him with a heavy police escort. The incident resulted in mild tension in the area. (JUBS)
