Bollywood Big B Amitabh Bachchan fears he has not made justice to a song for which he gave his voice for a Rabindranath Tagore number and wants to make another attempt at it.
When he crooned the song ‘Ekla cholo re’ for his latest film ‘Kahaani’, its director Sujoy Ghosh has expressed satisfaction. However, the Big B himself is not convinced.
It is everyone’s knowledge that his wife Jaya Badhuri is a typical Bengali woman and Bengali people consider the Big B as their son-in-law. Better than any of his fans and well wishers, Amitabh himself is very much conscious of this fact.
Writing on his blog, Amitabh said it was an outstanding composition. “I was reluctant to sing it first but Sujoy Ghosh made me ultimately sing the song, my first in Bengali. He was happy with my performance but I am not. I want to do it again and again till I get it right,” he said.
“Otherwise not just by Bengalis who look at me as their son-in-law, my head will be chopped off in my own house,” he said in lighter vein thinking of his Bengali wife.
Amitabh has also the humility to say that since he was not a professional singer, it became difficult for him to sing the song. “The song has a unique flow with words and tunes mixing with each other in a peculiar way,” he observed. (JUBS)
