Minister Sankara Rao faced opposition from students and other pro-Telangana activists when he visited the fasting camp of former DSP Ms Nalini at Jantar Mantar in Delhi today.
Nalini, a former state service officer who quit her job, began her indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar early in the morning and several T activists were also present at the spot. Nalini was demanding the introduction of the Telangana bill in the present session of parliament.
Suddenly, Sankara rao descended on the camp from nowhere and said he was extending his support to the fast.
On seeing Sankara rao, the activists went berserk and raised slogans against him and asked him to go back. “Why didn’t you oppose the no-confidence motion in the assembly?” they questioned him for which there was no reply from the minister.
The activists particularly opposed the comment made by Sankara rao that Telangana could be achieved only if tigers fight for it and not if cats run the battle.
Sankara rao, who has attained the notoriety of a 'person who is not serious or who kids' for his incoherent and irrelevant statements of late, quietly left the place after realizing he was not welcome there. (JUBS)
