Kiran visits Sonia, greets on birth day while Chiru extends greetings over phone

Chief Minister Kirankumar reddy today greeted congress party president Sonia Gandhi on her 66th birthday.

Kirankumar, who arrived in Delhi early in the morning, visited 10, Janpath ahead of other top congress leaders and wished her good health and long life.

After the usual greetings, Kiran discussed with Sonia the defiance of whip by 16 congress MLAs during the TDP’s no-confidence motion and sought her nod for their disqualification from the assembly.

Reports said that the CM also discussed the issues of Minister Sankara Rao, cabinet expansion and representation to PRP members in the cabinet. “Sonia inquired about the welfare schemes being implemented by the state government,” said a senior congress leader later.

Kirankumar also met Sonia’s political secretary Ahmad Patel and Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and discussed the political situation in the state.

Later, the CM met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and requested him to attend a Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu programme.

Chiru greets Sonia over phone

Actor turned congress politician Mr Chiranjeevi telephoned Sonia Gandhi and wished her on her 66th birth day. “Chiranjeevi thought of going to Delhi personally to greet Sonia but he couldn’t because of prior engagements,” said sources close to Chiru. (JUBS)
