The Telangana political JAC, which has been spearheading the Telangana agitation, today called upon the Telangana people to observe Dec 9, tomorrow, as Telangana self-respect day and Dec 23 as Telangana betrayal day.
It may be recalled that Union Home Minister Chidambaram announced the formation of Telangana state on Dec 9, 2009 but backtracked after fifteen days on Dec 23 announcing that the decision has been revoked due to lack of consensus.
The steering committee of the political JAC, which met at the TNGO Bhavan in Hyderabad, took the decision to observe the two days as self respect day and betrayal day respectively.
Explaining the programme for the self respect day, JAC convener Prof Kodanda Ram told journalists that they would unveil the Telangana flag at the martyrs’ memorial at Gun Park early in the morning and hold Telangana Jagaran from 5 pm to 12 in the night.
Kodanda Ram asked people of Telangana to conduct various activities tomorrow and make the self respect day a successful one. Welcoming the high court orders to release Cheruku Sudhakar, Kodanda Ram said that the Union Ministers have been speaking incoherently and in different voices on Telangana. (JUBS)
