The CBI today raided the corporate head offices of Vodafone in Mumbai and Airtel in Gurgaon in connection with 2G spectrum allocations after registering a fresh case about the discrepancies that took place during the regimes of Promod Mahajan, Arun Shourie and Dayanidhi Maran as Union Communications ministers.
The CBI sleuths also raided the residences of former Telecom Secretary Shyamal Ghosh and former director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) JR Gupta. The fresh case is a follow up to the investigation being carried out into the 2G spectrum allocations.
Bharti Artel and Vodafone India later released statements informing that all their spectrum allocations were strictly in accordance with the Government policy.The filing of the second FIR was related to the report submitted by the CBI to the Supreme Court in September on the alleged irregularities that took place during the regimes of Arun Shourie and Dayanidhi Maran.
