CBI is all set to arrest the IAS officer Y. Srilakshmi in the illegal mining case involving the former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan reddy.
Reports said all her efforts and lobbying in Delhi to avoid arrest by the CBI have fallen flat and a crestfallen Srilakshmi, leaving things to her fate, is set to return to Hyderabad today or tomorrow.
The tainted bureaucrat, who misused her official position during the YSR regime and went out of the way to favour Gali Janardhan reddy and grant iron ore leases to him, has been on leave since Nov 9 and went to her sister’s residence in Chennai.
She however left for Delhi from there for lobbying against her possible arrest in the illegal mining case and met some central leaders including a top Union Minister but they all seemingly told her the issue was not in their hands.
Latest reports said that CBI will arrest Srilakshmi based on the affidavit given by former director of the mining department Mr Rajagopal who has been spilling beans in his interrogation. The CBI is also trying to find out the big administrative and political heads who gave directions to Rajagopal to act in favour of Gali Janardhan reddy.
