Home Minister P. Chidambaram today announced a grant of Rs.200 Cr for the development of the Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
Addressing the 68th batch of the IPS officers at the passing out parade at the Academy on the outskirts of the city after receiving the salute, Chidambaram described the Academy as one of international standards.
He said that a police-less society is unimaginable any where and people always depend on police for small and big things. “For each and every problem in the society, people will come to you and you have to fulfill the duty towards the people sincerely and responsibly,” he told them.
Appreciating the officers, Chidambaram said police department is unique among all wings of the Government and they have a great responsibility towards the society.
Chief Minister Kirankumar Reddy and Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy also attended the function and witnessed the passing out parade.
134 IPS officers successfully competed their training and will take up duties shortly across India.
