Most popular national news channel CNN-IBN reported today that the Centre is exploring the option of imposing president’s rule in AP to overcome the administrative and political crisis stemmed from the on-going mass general strike by more than four lakh Telangana employees who are seeking the separate state of Telangana.
The report comes in the wake of the Centre getting busy holding consultations with CM Kirankumar reddy, PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana, former PCC chief D. Srinivas and Governor ESL Narasimhan in Delhi to find an amicable solution on the nagging issue today.
A political vacuum has been created in Telangana region with the administration coming to a grinding halt and the appeals of the Union Government to call off the strike were turned down by the protagonists of Telangana state.
The channel however reported that the Centre’s idea of imposing President’s rule in the state will be met with stiff opposition by the main opposition party BJP and the Centre may not be able to get parliament approval for imposing president rule.
At the same time, the major stake holders in the state of AP may not relax their stubborn positions on the status of Hyderabad which continues to remain a major stumbling block in finding an amicable solution to the issue.
