Wipro loses land in Vizag IT Park

Wipro loses land in Vizag IT ParkThe APIIC has served notices to the software giant Wipro along with another IT company informing them that it has decided to cancel the land allotted to them in the proposed IT Park at Visakhapatnam as they have not complied with the norms and conditions mentioned in the MoU.

“The companies have failed to respond to several notices in the past forcing us to cancel the allotment,” said Mr S. Siva Rama Subrahmanyam, chairman of the APIIC.
Addressing a press conference in Visakhapatnam on Friday, he said that the APIIC has so far allotted 172 acres of land to 46 entrepreneurs including Wipro in the Vizag IT Park. He said only 9 of them had set up companies actually. “We will shortly go for a review of the allotments made to the companies and take necessary steps” he said indicating that the allotments may be cancelled.
Mr Subrahmanyam further said they had served notices to nearly 2,500 outfits for not adhering to assurances given to the government. “Only 450 companies have come forward and appealed for one year’s time to complete the targets,” he said.
