Politicians, film stars, business men face Emaar heat

DSriniVasThe CBI, investigating the APIIC-Emaar land scam, today issued notices to the former PCC chief Mr D. Srinivas asking him to appear before them for questioning on September 18.

Srinivas, like other top politicians, businessmen and Tollywood personalities, bought one of the villas developed by Emaar Properties in Hyderabad. The CBI issued notices to 88 others who bought villas and plots developed by the tainted real estate company. The country’s top investigating agency took court’s permission to serve notices on more than hundred persons who bought properties in the Emaar estate.

Those who received the notices included mega star Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Tej, hero Mahesh Babu and his wife Ms. Namratha, former cricketer Chamundeswari Nath, KVP’s wife Ms. K.Sunitha, TDP chief Chandrababu’s daughter-in-law Ms. Brahmani, Tollywood producer Ashwini Dutt’s daughter Swapandutt, Jagan’s right hand man Ambati Rambabu’s brother Ambati Murali Krishna, Minister J. Geetha Reddy and super star Krishna’s daughter Manjula. CBI will issue notices to the rest of the buyers shortly.

The CBI will seek the details of payment from all the buyers and the likely questions the buyers will have to answer are; how did you make the payment? In which bank the payment is made? Do you have IT consent letter for purchasing the villa/ plot? Have you made any payment in black?

That the CBI served these notices to all the big people who bought the Emaar Villas has been kept secret by the officials. However, the media which has been running after the Gali Janardhan Reddy case came to know of it later.
