Gandhian and social activist Anna Hazare, who threatened to go on an indefinite fast demanding the introduction of stronger Lok Pal Bill, continued to fast ever after his arrest and refused to accept even water offered by police.
Hazare on Monday refused to accept conditional permission to his proposed fast and threatened to continue his fast in case of arrest by police. True to his promise, he continued to fast even after the police arrest this morning.
There are reports that Hazare was sent to the Tihar jail on the orders of a magistrate but there was no official confirmation of this report.
“As promised, he began his fast this morning and is not even taking water,” a spokesperson for the Hazare Team said. Along with Hazare, his close associates Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi and Shanti Bhushan were also detained.
