Yajurmandiram continues to yield gold, cash

khajanaOn the second day of the counting of the wealth of the late spiritual master Sri Satya Sai Baba in the Yajurmandiram of Prashanthy Nilayam at Puttaparthy today, revenue officials found a suitcase containing Rs.27 lakh, according the District Collector, Mr Durga Das who is supervising the counting.

After the media raised a hue and cry that the Yajurmandiram contained more reserves of cash, gold, silver and other valuables and counting must be taken up again, officials ordered another counting on Monday.

On the first day of counting, officials found 34 kg of gold, 340 kg of silver and cash amounting to Rs.1.92 Cr. Reports said that the counting revenue staff also found a pure gold statue of lord Rama which Satya Sai Baba used to worship.

Collector Durga Das said that there are four more rooms and a secret cellar which are yet to be opened and counting taken up. Revenue officials who began the counting Monday morning continued the process till 10 pm.

Officials said lot of pure silk saris, valuable diamonds and pearls were also found in the first day’s searches and counting and more of such findings are to take place.
