HC stays CAT order on Aravinda Rao

HC stays CAT order on Aravinda RaoIn a relief to the DGP Mr. Aravinda Rao, the AP High Court today stayed the judgment of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) that invalidated his appointment as the state police boss.

Granting stay on the implementation of the CAT orders which asked the state government to appoint a new DGP and send six names of senior IPS officers for the purpose, the High Court adjourned the hearing of the case for four weeks.

Aravinda Rao can now retire as the DGP without any embarrassment on June 30. The CAT delivered the order on a petition filed by Mr Gowtham Kumar, Principal Secretary, Home in which he argued that his seniority was ignored by the government through the appointment of Aravinda Rao as the DGP. Aravinda Rao challenged the order in the High Court.
