Facing heat over the spate of incidents that occurred in AP politics, the Congress Party High Command is considering the possibility of issuing fresh statement on Telangana. The revised stand, much on the likes of 'Dec 9', is expected at placating the sentiments on the issue in the Telangana region. Any new declaration on Telangana will be preceded by the Party's CWC (Congress Party Working Committee) core meet that will discuss the issue threadbare during the last week of this month.
According to the political sources in Delhi, the Congress Party is desirous that there should not be any ambiguity on Telangana issue, ahead of the 2014 assembly elections. In the backdrop of elections to the state assemblies in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, the Congress Party perceives that a clearcut policy on Telangana will act as a conducive factor for it in the Gorkhand region.
It may be known that during his recent meeting with Telangana region MLAs,the Union Home Minister, P.Chidambaram told them in no clear terms that the centre is not in a position to call the all-party meeting on the same issue, with out making up its mind on the Telangana issue.
Though the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pavan Kumar Bansal's recent assertion that the government does not think in terms of bringing out the Bill on Telangana, there is a vivid possibility of government coming out with an announcement on the Telangana issue, in the ensuing winter budget session of Parliament.
The Congress High Command is draught over the incidents that have taken place in the state like the government employees taking to the path of 'Non-cooperation agitation' coupled with the recent manhandling of Lok Satta's Jaiprakash Narayan by TRS Party. More so, the worsening political situation in the state is fast getting out of the control of the Chief Minister.
Also, the growing incitement of Telangana movement, constant bedlam in the assembly seemed to have pushed the Congress Party High Command to rethink on the issue.
