Tollywood producer C. Kalyan who is facing CID investigation into cases of cheating registered against him based on two complaints by video organizations, today applied for anticipatory bail in the Nampally criminal court in Hyderabad.
Saying that he has not resorted to any cheating or threatening against any one, Kalyan said that Shalimar and Universal Video companies violated the agreements and did not pay him the full amount as agreed.
“The two companies only paid advance amounts and they can get the video rights of Puli and Khaleja movies even now also by paying the balance amounts as agreed,” he said in his petition.
Saying firmly that he has not cheated the companies, he said the advance amounts were paid to the Kanakaratna movies owned by producer Singanamala Ramesh in shape of DDs. “They have planned to take back their advance amounts and have lodged false complaints against me,” he told the court. The court will hear the petition tomorrow.
What is not understandable, however, is that why Kalyan has waited all these days to seek the anticipatory bail and why he has approached the court only now after his co-producer Singanamala Ramesh was arrested.
