Why Jump On to a Sinking Boat? TRS Questions Itself

Telangana Rastra Samithi is toying with the idea of contesting 2014 elections on its own strength instead of a coalition or merger with the Congress party.  Although TRS President KCR has been telling in their internal meetings that he will abide by the word that the party will be merged with the congress if the formation of Telangana becomes a reality, the party is not giving any firm commitment now as so far only a decision is taken by the Cabinet but the process of the formation of a separate State is not taken taken up yet as the Bill is not introduced in the Parliament.

TRS not only wants to play a safe game till the State is bifurcated but also as per the changed situation in the State and National plane a question comes into their minds whether the merger is beneficial or not and if it is beneficial then for who?  Certainly not to TRS! That is what TRS is thinking now.

As per the recent surveys, Congress Party is going to lose at Center and also in the State.  The survey says that even if the State is bifurcated before elections, still the Congress party is not going to win in Telangana Region.  The surveys show the tremendous strength of TRS at the present moment.  If that is the situation, the merger simply will be a breather to Congress party.

Another problem is the lack of coordination in the Telanganga Congress leaders.  All senior leaders of the party are hoping on sitting on the CM’s chair as first Chief Minister of Telangana State.

That is the reason why the leaders of the TRS are announcing that the success towards the decision and process of formation of separate State of Telangana is only due to the efforts of the party.  They are not allowing any credit to the Congress party.  As per TRS, the party has compelled the ruling party to take such a decision.

More over the recent public meeting at Bodhan clearly shows that the Congress Party cannot pool strength at the present moment.  As against 50000 people expected by the Telangana Congress to attend the meeting, only about 12000 people gathered and they too reduced to few thousand by the end of the meeting.  More over it is clear that all the leaders are having an eye on the post of the CM of the new State.  Somehow there are no takers for the Congress party’s efforts to propagate that it is only the Congress party that is making the Telangana State realty.

Then in that situation the need of jumping to a sinking boat called Congress party is not looking wise to the TRS party leaders.

Unless a major change happens on the political plane, chances of TRS at the present moment are looking bright whether or not bifurcation of the State happens.  Whereas Congress party is at losing end even after the decision is taken and sticking to it firmly in spite of the opposition from the Seemandhra and from within the party.
