Telugu actors mark 'present' at 100 years Indian cinema tribute

Indian Cinema has come a very long way in the past 100 years. A century has passed and the stardust that cinema spreads is still a huge part of every Indian household. Indian Cinema's 100 year celebrations at Chennai have kick started amidst vibrant splendor, marking the magnificence that represent our films.

Chennai's Nehru Indoor Stadium was a congregation of the film fraternity's most respected. From Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan to Satyanayana and Ilayaraja, all those who contributed to the amazing world of Indian cinema had a place at the venue. South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce is organizing this 4-day gala.

Tamilnadu CM Jayalalitha, a yesteryear actress herself, inaugurated the event. She focused her speech on the creative Tamil film Industry. Karunanidhi was conspicuous with his absence. Despite a minor controversy over the non-participation of the Telugu film fraternity due to state bifurcation issues, many from the Telugu film industry graced the event. Kaajal even performed to a medley of songs.

In addition to Vijay, Ajith, Sarath Kumar, Vikram, Dhanush, Trisha and Simran, our very own Krishnam Raju, Lakshmi Manchu, Jayasudha, Venkatesh, Rana, Kota Srinivas Rao, Babu Mohan, Manchu Manoj, Srikanth and others attended the event. Rajasekhar and Jeevitha were also there, lending their support. Nandamuri Balakrishna was one among those who were honored with an award for their contribution to cinema.

Until the evening of 24th September, the celebrations will give way to breathtaking and entertaining performances from several artists. Individuals from all four south film industries will attend the celebrations, besides actors Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. On the last day, President Pranab Mukherjee is expected to preside over the event.
