Nothing has changed ever in B-Wood, neither the angry young man nor the aggressive cop, good friends or the Dosthana, be it the family plot or the games mania, last but not the least the super powered or the science fictions… it was a male dominated world where only showpieces were heroines. Earlier we used to have vamps but now the heroines have gobbled them up to create a dual identity. In this male chauvinist world two women carve a niche for themselves and dominate the issues with a slogan`Hum Kisse se Kum Nahin’ some times better too.
True to the statement Ekta Kapoor is one star of the show biz, who was never recognized as the daughter of the versatile veteran Jitendra, but to his pride after she gained popularity people related him with her, `oh! She is Jeethu bhai’s daughter’. Remarkable achievement to the father to be recognized like that, it only means how well he has parented the kid to gain individual identity with smart work. Ekta true to her genre started out on the small screen and went on to mark a niche on the small screen as the Czarini of sops. Her `K’ factor stung Balaji Tele films have churned out many family melodramas like Kyunki...Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Kasautii Zindagii Kay… and still on. Almost all of them speak volumes of human sentiment and the shades that take over human persona at various incidents. Somewhere some time each of the viewer gets personalized while viewing and hence the patronage.
Inspite of marking a space for self in the tinsel world too, through her real life stories spun around her famous concept of melodrama and female dominance. Much could be said about her films which fared well at the box office like, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, and Ragini MMS. But the latest flick `The Dirty Picture’ was a very bold expression about it is not the sensuous that is important but the sensitivity that is important fared really very well at the BO, world over. Human emotions that were kindled with the sensuous looks were restricted till there, but not a soul wanted to be her moral support resulting in a disastrous suicide, proved too much for the average audience.
Even a filmmaker like Ram Gopal Varma, who has so far made only male-centric movies, can't stop raving about the film by Ekta, who seems to have a knack for picking real stories and turning them into box office wonders. "I want to give 2 million 15 lakh 17 thousand 3 hundred and 26 and a half kisses to Ekta for proving that Dirty is Clean and Clean is Dirty," he tweeted.
But the "The Dirty Picture” success was mainly due to the combination of the deadly duo, Ektha and Vidya Baalan. "The Dirty Picture" is Vidya’s boldest performance so far - she sheds clothes and inhibitions to play a sex symbol. Both of the young ladies have defied the logics of B-Wood taking the medium at their own strides and now joining hands to keep the entire tribe awe struck. Kudos to the duo, who were challenging, undaunted and victorious, long live the tribe. Wishesh wishes them a very grand success in all their endeavors!!
