The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam [AIADMK] functionary has asked former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa to step down from the party General Secretary post on moral grounds. In a letter written to Jaya, AIADMK functionary opined that taking the responsibility Jaya should quit the General Secretary position which could bring a good impression of party in the public.
A senior leader of AIADMK, Ramasubramanian said, no one can remove her from any post in the party and so it is upto her to take a decision. “Till the Supreme Court clear the air in this case, Jaya should stay away from the post and she should introspect. Jaya can appoint her loyalist for the same post and her quitting will send very strong signals within the party,” added Ramasubramanian.
Jayalalitha was convicted in Rs 66 crores disproportionate assets case by a Bangalore Special Court. Along with her close aides, Jaya was sentenced to four years jail and slapped with Rs 100 crores fine.
