The stalwarts of Bihar politics Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar have formed a 'grand alliance' for the by-elections in the state in order to attack the Bharatiya Janata Party. 10 MLAs of BJP have resigned to their post as they were elected to Lok Sabha and the by-elections are slated on August 21st. The ruling party in Bihar, Janata Dal [United], Rashtriya Janata Dal [RJD] and Congress have formed 'grand alliance' and will contest the by-polls.
According to the sources, JD[U] will contest four seats, RJD will also get four and Congress party will fight for two assembly seats. Nitish Kumar led JD[U] has called off their ties with BJP last year as Narendra Modi was announced PM candidate and later BJP withdrew their support to the government in Bihar.
JD[U] has 114 seats, BJP has 89, RJD has 24 and Congress has only 4 in the 233-member Bihar Assembly.
