Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that she would support Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha for the Prime Ministerial post. Mamatal also clarified that she doesn't mind working Jaya and her party AIADMK in the upcoming general elections.

Talking to a television channel, Mamata said that she would never ever support BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. “After the Gujarat riots, Trinamool Congress demanded Mr. Modi's resignation but they did not and so we came out of NDA. We are looking for non-Congress and non-BJP governments in the center,” added Mamata.

Mamata and Jayalalitha worked with BJP's NDA when AB Vajpayee was the prime minister and they parted away from the Gujarat riots.
