Retaliation For US Action Against Indian Diplomat

The Government of India retaliated to the arrest of Indian diplomat at New York. The Deputy Consul General Devyani Khobragade was arrested and handcuffed in public before taking her to police station. 

To register the displeasure over the US Government’s action against Indian diplomats, the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde cancelled his meeting with the US team. The Loksabha Speaker Meira Kumar cancelled her meeting with the US Congressional delegation. National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon did not meet with the US team comprising of five members.

Government stopped all import clearances for the US Embassy including for liquor.  The traffic barricades at US Embassy at Nyaya Marg in Delhi are going to be lifted.

All teachers at US schools are asked to submit their visa information and their salary and bank accounts.  US Consulate personnel were asked to handover their ID Cards to the Government immediately.  The Government also sought the information on the salaries paid to Indian staff employed at the Consulate and working at Consulate officers and families.

The Barricades outside the US Embassy were removed keeping the picket remain there.

Narendra Modi announced his solidarity with Devyani Khoragade. He refused to meet the team of US Congress Representatives tomorrow at Ahmedabad.
