Theif runs away with jewels worth 40 million Euros

Authorities at Cannes confirmed a large robbery.

The investigators brought into prominence about an armed man stole jewels accompanying an approximated value of 40 million euros (S$67.1 million) in a shameless robbery in broad daylight at a diamond exhibition in the French Riviera resort of Cannes on Sunday. In actuality, the hold-up, at the Carlton Hotel on the promenade in Cannes, famous for its annual film festival, would be the second largest ever in France if the value of the jewels is given additional determination.

Furthermore, authorities mentioned that the robbery took place close to 11.30am local time (5.30pm Singapore time) and targeted an exhibition entitled Extraordinary Diamonds by the Leviev jewellery house. According to the prosecutor's office a lone gunman, wearing a baseball cap accompanied by his face hidden by a bandana or scarf, entered the hotel through a front entrance uninterrupted as security guards patrolled the premises.
