Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni single-handedly drove team India to another glorious triumph by defeating Sri Lanka in the final match of the Tri-Nation ODI series 2013. And it was, in no way, an easy victory for the men in blue who won the tournament by a narrow one-wicket.
Chasing a target of 202, India lugged to 187, when winning strokes by Dhoni - two quick sixes and a four in just four balls sailed India to a “memorable” win at the Queen's Park Oval.
As the skipper squashed Eranga with his winning shot, the Indian audience jumped with joy to applaud the man of the moment who remained 'not out' on 45 off 52 balls.
After Suresh Raina's exit at 145 for five in the 35th over, it was captain Dhoni who stabilized the team by playing ingeniously with the lower-order, adding important runs, and storming the team to yet another ODI feat.
While it was M S Dhoni's match-winning knock that bagged the win for India, Rohit Sharma, remained the top-scorer for India with 58 off 89 balls. Raina scored 32 off 27 balls.
What seemed like a decent target initially, ended up looking like a big chase after India lost Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli early to Sri Lanka's Eranga.
