On Friday, Olympian Vijender Singh refused any connection with the recent Rs 130-crore drug haul in Punjab. In fact, he called the rumours false and said, he have nothing to do with these people and he do not know how his name has come up in this matter and that he do not know these people and he was in Mumbai for some work and had left his car at NIS Patiala when nothing was found in my car.
As the matter of fact remains in a massive drug haul, the police recovered heroin worth Rs 130 crore from a flat in Zirakpur, Mohali.
Moreover, the police has alleged that Vijender's wife's car was found outside the Zirakpur flat and 10 kilograms of heroin was also recovered from another car even though it has not been confirmed if it was from the boxer's wife's car.
According to the police one person was arrested on March 3, Anup Singh Kahlon who is linked to Vijender Singh and another boxer Ram Singh and that the accused has alleged that he supplied small amounts of heroin to Vijender and Ram. In fact, sources said that Kahlon has links in South America and Europe.
Furthermore, sources said that that they will be calling in the boxers for questioning and as told by SSP Fatehgarh Sahab Hardyal Mann Singh the investigations are on and that they have recovered 26 kilograms of heroin from two smugglers which has worth Rs 130 crore. While they said they are expecting more recoveries in coming days.
This is a very big scandal and these NRIs have built an international chain.
It's real shame for the nation if it's true...
Sources further added that the accused is allegedly part of a bigger international drug peddling racket. In accordance to the report Kahlon is a truck driver in Canada and is part of a drug network in Punjab. While Vijender's coach Gurbaksh Sandhu has expressed shock at the news, his brother Manoj said Vijender is not involved in the drug deal and these allegations against his brother are completely baseless and we condemn it as he was in Gurgaon and was not involved in any of these deals and they deny his involvement.
Moreover, Report says Punjab is a transit point for drug smugglers and the drugs make way from Pakistan and Afghanistan and also said that 80 per cent of smuggled drug goes undetected.
Now, coming to Vijender, he has won a bronze medal at 2006 Asian Games in Doha, a bronze at 2008 Beijing Olympics and is the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal. The boxer was also honoured with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and was 2009 top-ranked boxer in middle-weight category. While Ram Singh won silver in Junior National Boxing Championship in 2002, bronze medal in Czech Republic Grand Prix in 2007, gold in AK Misra Senior Men Boxing Championship in 2009 and bronze in international meet in Kazakhstan in 2009.
Sometimes honour get's so badly dominated by money that it comes to conclusion of corruption and violence and gradually fades out all achievements making life miserable and confusing.
It's not just about earning money, but the source what matters more!
